Father found a letter to my mother
from a soldier who had been
at home when Father was away.
Mother quite denied that more
than friendship had occurred
(which all agreed was not undue)
but Father could not find
the generosity of soul to own
that anyone else but he could serve
her need, could play his part.
Nothing after was the same;
he left - and broke my heart.
